Corporate Food Programs: Food Trucks Outside, Electric Vending Carts Inside

Corporate Food Programs: Food Trucks Outside, Electric Vending Carts Inside

A corporate food program is a recurring food service arrangement where a company brings vendors to its office or campus on a set schedule, usually subsidizing part of the cost for employees. Best Food Trucks currently runs 74 active corporate programs across 70 office and campus locations, serving 5,735 enrolled employees. The average program is in service 4.64 days a week, close enough to daily that most employees stop thinking of it as an event and start thinking of it as lunch.

Until recently, that meant a food truck parked in the lot. It still can. But we can also put an electric vending cart inside the building, which changes what's actually possible for a lot of campuses.

The Problem With "Just Book a Truck"

A truck needs curb space, a clear path in, and usually a spot the fire marshal has already blessed. Fine for a suburban campus with its own lot. Not fine for a 40 story office tower with no street frontage, a secure site where outside vehicles don't get past the gate, or a rainy Tuesday in Seattle when nobody wants to walk outside to eat. The loading dock booked solid with deliveries is its own special headache.

Enough corporate accounts asked us some version of "can you do this indoors" that we built the answer.

Revolution Carts: The Indoor Option

Revolution Carts are electric vending carts made to work inside a building. No exhaust, no propane, no engine idling in a lobby. They plug into a standard outlet or run on battery, so a cart can sit in an atrium or cafeteria and serve hot food without facilities asking questions about ventilation.

What that means in practice: a company is no longer choosing between an outdoor truck and nothing. It's outdoor truck or indoor cart, and the calendar doesn't have to bend around weather or building access anymore.

Most accounts don't have to pick one. A campus running an outdoor lot on clear days can add a cart as the rain backup, so lunch doesn't get cancelled just because it's pouring.

Setting One Up

  1. Pick the cadence. Most active programs run close to daily. Ours average 4.64 days a week, though plenty run once or twice weekly instead.

  2. Pick the format. Outdoor truck, indoor cart, or both, split by day or by weather.

  3. Set the subsidy. A flat amount or a percentage per order is typical; employees cover the rest.

  4. Employees enroll and order. One signup code, one app, whether it's a truck outside or a cart in the lobby that day.

  5. We handle the vendor rotation. Trucks and cart operators get scheduled and swapped on our end, so nobody on your team is chasing down a replacement vendor mid quarter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a corporate food truck program? A recurring arrangement where a company brings food trucks, and now indoor electric carts, to its office or campus on a set schedule. The company typically subsidizes part of the cost for enrolled employees.

Can food trucks operate inside a building? No, traditional trucks need outdoor space and vehicle access. Revolution Carts are the workaround: electric, no exhaust, and built to run indoors off a regular outlet.

What if my building has no loading dock? That's the exact case Revolution Carts were built for. No dock, no curb space, no outdoor lot needed, just an indoor spot with power.

How often does a typical program run? Across our current corporate accounts, the average is 4.64 days a week. Some go daily, some stick to once or twice weekly.

Does rain shut the program down? For an outdoor-only setup, it can. Pair the truck with an indoor cart as backup and the schedule holds regardless of what's happening outside.
